CMD 2 WINNS 2 STRAIGHT

CMD started quiz 1 off strong with the lead and 80 points by question #7. Then an error by CMD and West Can 1 gave a 20 point bonus to Metro and the score was tied. Another correct Chapter Ref by Sam and CMD took the lead again. By question 18 with 130 points CMD had the quiz sewed up.

In the second quiz after a few errors by the other 2 teams and correct bonuses from CMD the score was tied at 80. Two more correct questions after question #16 and CMD 2 wins Internationals 2008.

Heather (5th), Dallas (11th), Erinn (12th) and Sam (16th) placed in the top 16.

It has been an exciting week and all our praise and thanks goes to God who gave us the victory.

LATEST UPDATE CMD2 in FINALS

CMD 1's first quiz against West Canada 1 (1st place) and Metro (7th place)was a fast jumping game. Final score ended up West Canada 1 first again (170 pts), Metro second (90 pts) and CMD 1 with 60 points. That put them in Quiz F at 1:00 against 2 teams from Western PA. Unfortunately WPA 1 won that quiz with 120 points and received the right to advance to Quiz H. WPA 2 placed second ending up in 8th position overall and CMD 1 placed third ending up in 9th place overall. They had great team effort with terrific attitudes and they gave it their all.

CMD 2's first quiz was against 4th place WPA 2 and North Western coached by Mary Anne Enns. CMD came up with a big win and advanced to Quiz D with all the other 2 first place teams from Quiz A (Western Can 1) and Quiz B (South Atlantic 2). On question # 17A Dallas quizzed out gaining an extra 10 points for his team and it was CMD 2 150 and West Can 110 and SA 50. Then West Can took questions #18 for 20 pts and #19 for 20 pts plus the extra 10 to give them 160. CMD went for question #20 but got an error and finished in second with 140. Going on to Quiz G at 1:30 we met SA 2 again and Metro. Metro won the quiz on bonuses and CMD 2 came in third behind SA. Now it was do or die in quiz I. By question #13 CMD 2 was on top with 100 pts to SA 50 and PA 1 at 60. A very close quiz but CMD 2 with another 30 point question by Dallas for third person in and a bonus ended up winning the quiz with 130 points.

So after a lot of quizzing already today we get to quiz again tonight in the FINALS against West Canada 1 and Metro.

It's great to have the extra support from family and friends that are here to watch and they know that you will all be cheering at home. Pray for strength and stamina to go the distance as the weather is very hot and muggy today.

DAY 2 AND 3

Exciting last 2 days. Sorry for the delay but computer glitches and lack of time.
Thursday was a full day of quizzing with 5 quizzes for CMD 2 and 4 for CMD 1.
CMD 1 started off with a first and CMD 2 was in a tie breaker and ended up with a second.
Then the best part of the day -- CMD 1 and CMD 2 with Eastern Canada 2. Wish you could've been here to see all our quizzers get a question and use all the bonus points available. the score by question 15 was 150 for CMD 1 and 170 for CMD 2. There were only 2 errors by this point. The score ended up 220 for CMD 1 and 180 for CMD 2. I don't know when the kids have had more fun quizzing each other. Great time to take team pictures after. Mr Johnson will have more pics posted today on the website.

CMD 1 took a third on their last quiz of the day and CMD ended with a first against Ohio Valley and S. Western with 170. Then against a hot Western Canada 1 team (first with 190) and South Atlantic they ended in a tie breaker for second with 70.

After quizzing there was time off to enjoy some wild rides at nearby Hershey Park.

Friday morning (last quizzes of the preliminary round) CMD 1 had 2 quizzes left getting a third and a first and enough points to put them in 6th place and ensure them a spot in the 9 team elimination round.

CMD 2 started off with 260 points in their first quiz on Fri with all 5 quizzers getting a question (love those bonus points) a 90 point second and a 140 point second. That gave them enough for 3rd place overall and a spot in the elimination round.

They are now getting some needed rest and reviewing their material for tomorrow's intense competition. The top 6 teams were West Canada 1, Western PA 1, CMD 2, Western PA 2, Northeastern and CMD 1.

DAY 1

We had a great plane trip to Baltimore and arrived with all our luggage. Two vans were waiting for us at the airport and we arrived at the camp in time to get settled in the AC dorms (yeah) & get supper. A challenge course and coaches briefing kept everyone busy till we dropped into bed.

Wed morning it was nice to see extra cheering support from family and friends.
CMD 1 had 6 quizzes today with 4 firsts and 2 seconds. Everyone jumped and tried a question.
CMD 2 had 4 quizzes today with 3 firsts and 1 third. All 5 quizzers have won a jump and got a question. There are 4 quizzing rooms with room 1 outdoors under a big tent.
(that's a first) This has been an encouraging day for the quizzers and we thank the Lord for his blessings and you for praying.

Last minute suggestion for the girls staying in the dorms--you might want to bring an air mattress or small foamie because there will be quite a few that need to sleep on the floor. Thanks

Regina WCC Registrations & Billets

Just a reminder that registrations are due tomorrow, Tuesday, April 22 for the upcoming quiz meet in Regina May 2-4. Thank you to everyone who has registered already. Please get your registrations in on time to assist with the planning of the quiz meet.

It looks like we will have enough rooms on campus for the girls and the female chaperons and we are working on obtaining enough billet homes for the boys and coaches in Regina. If any coaches or officials have friends or relatives in Regina that they could make arrangements to stay with, it would help with our billeting situation. Please indicate this on your registration form. Thank you.

March Erindale Meet Registration Information

The next quiz meet is fast approaching. It will be held Mar. 7-9 at Erindale Alliance Church in Saskatoon, SK. Registration will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The meet will wrap up after lunch on Sunday. (Lunch is at 11:45 a.m.)

REGISTRATIONS ARE DUE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2008. Please download and fill out the registration form and return it to the registration email address. Make sure to list the number of teams in each division and include any vehicles that can be used to transport quizzers to billets.

Because the Erindale quiz meet is held in Saskatoon, we need confirmation on 2 additional items to help the planning of the meet run smoother.
1. Please ensure that your quizzers need billets before filling out the registration form. It is fine if you arrange with their parents for them to stay with someone else, but we need to know ahead of time so that we are not looking for billets that we don't need and cancelling on billets at the last moment.
2. We need each coach to indicate the number of people (quizzers and coaches) who will require lunch on Sunday. In the past the numbers for Sunday lunch have been significantly lower than the meal numbers for the rest of the weekend.

The cost will be $25 per person. Coaches, please bring one cheque for the registrations of your church group. This will help the registration process to run smoother. The cheques can be made out to “Canadian Midwest Quizzing” or “CMQ”. Quiz masters, scorekeepers, and answer judges are not required to pay the registration for this meet.

Question material content will include Galatians, Ephesians, and Philippians with 20 question quizzes in the A, B, and C divisions. This will be the second district meet of the GEPC quizzing year with 20% of the “A” quizzers personal averages going towards their overall year average. Quizzers need to bring winter gear, sleeping bags, pillows, and any personal items required for the meet. Luggage needs to be identified with each quizzer’s name and church group.

The social will be a carnival held at Erindale Alliance Church. Come prepared for lots of fun and games. There will be cool prizes that can only be won in you participate in the carnival. The cost for the carnival is included in the registration fee.

Special speakers have been arranged for the weekend. Tim Thiessen, Erindale’s youth pastor, will speaking Saturday evening and Steve Vincent will be speaking Sunday morning.

Erindale Alliance Church is in the eastern part of Saskatoon at 310 Perehudoff Crescent.

If you have questions or concerns with completing the registration form, please contact Angela Davis.

REMINDER FOR S'TOON & REGINA RIDERS

Two Sask Transportation buses will leave Feb 1 Friday noon for Brandon from Circle Drive Alliance parking lot. Quizzers will need to load their well marked belongings at 11:30 am and must have their $60 payment already paid. The first stop these buses will make will probably be at Moosomin, Sk at about 4:15. This town has less fast food favorites for complete suppers so we are recommending that all passengers bring a bag lunch. There is no need for these buses to lose traveling time by stopping in Regina.

The STC bus from Regina will leave Feb 1 Friday at 3 pm from Living Hope Alliance parking lot. Merv Hepting will be in charge and each passenger needs to load their well marked belongings at 2:30 pm and have already paid their $60. This bus may not stop for supper until Brandon, so bag lunches are recommended.

We would ask all CMD quizzing people to continue to pray for improved weather for our traveling and socials. As well please remember our feature ministering group for the weekend from Miller Memorial Bible College.
