Hi CMQ!

It seems like there hasn’t even been one spare moment between quiz meets this year, but we are somehow at finals already. Wow!

The meet will once again take place at Briercrest College and Seminary in Caronport on April 28-30, 2017.

Coaches, please read the following details carefully, and fill out and send your registration form to final.regATcmdquizzing.org (replace AT with @) by Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Please note that this is a week sooner than we normally ask for registration. As usual, if you are a team that meets on Wednesday or Thursday, and need an extra couple days, please just send me (pitman.heatherATgmail.com, replace AT with @) an email and let me know you’re on it!

                                  Briercrest 2017 Registration Form

Details:

-Cost for the meet is $80 per participant. Quiz masters and those running the stats room are exempt. All other officials pay $40. Cheques should be made payable to Canadian Midwest Quizzing. It’s easiest if you cut the cheque for your entire church group. You are more than welcome to include officials’ registration fees with your church group, just not their registration information on your form.

-Officials are registered by Aaron MacPherson. Please do not include them on your team’s registration form, otherwise they may be counted twice (and we need ACCURATE numbers for this meet!). Have any interested officials contact aaronmacphersonATlive.ca (replace AT with @). Note that registration for answer judges and scorekeepers is $40.

-20-question quizzes in the A, B, and C divisions. As always, we encourage teams who do very well in B to try A for a meet. Quizzing is on the entire year’s material.

-Registration will be 6:30-7:30 on Friday, April 28.

-We are staying on campus, and will assume everyone will be hosted in dorms. Indicate on your form if you will not be needing a place to stay. Everyone should bring bedding (even if you have a bed), and expect that they may sleep on the floor. However, coaches over 30 will be given preference in this area.

-The meet extends into the afternoon on Sunday, with awards. Quizzers who are selected for the international teams will need to stay after for a short meeting (~30 minutes). Please plan accordingly if you have a quizzer who may be in this group.

-If you require a special diet, you must include it on your registration forms. The college informs us that they do not use nuts in their kitchen and dining facilities.

-Coaches, do your best to give us numbers for spectators (other than those you are already registering), so that Briercrest can prepare an appropriate amount of food.

-Anyone wishing to participate in the Sunday morning service with a special number should contact David Ong directly at david.a4jATgmail.com (replace AT with @).

-The social will be taking place outside. Participants should bring appropriate clothes for the weather.

Hello CMD!

The following is the registration information for the second district quiz meet at Erindale Alliance Church in Saskatoon, SK, March 10-12, 2017. Once again, we are setting the deadline for registration for this meet earlier than we normally do, but we understand that teams often meet on Wednesdays (and thus a Tuesday deadline is a difficult one), and some teams are quite large and require a lot more manoeuvering to get numbers in. If you can’t meet the deadline precisely, send me an email (pitman.heatherATgmail.com, replace AT with @) directly so that I know you’re on it.

Please download the Registration Form and email it to erindale.regATcmdquizzing.org (replace AT with @) by Tuesday, February 21, 2017. That’s two weeks from today.

The following is the relevant information for the meet.

  • Registration will be held at Erindale Alliance Church on Friday night from 6:30 – 7:30.
  • Officials should not be included on team registration forms, even if they are travelling with you. Officials should contact aaron.macphersonATgmail.com (replace AT with @) directly, and he will register all officials.
  • Registration is $45, cheques made payable to Canadian Midwest Quizzing.
  • Officials are exempt from paying.
  • Material for the meet will be up to the end of Luke 22.
  • Teams are invited to stay for church on Sunday, after which there will be a make-your-own lunch, which teams can either take on the road or eat at the church before leaving.
  • To the best of your ability, indicate your line-ups on your registration forms. With larger teams especially, I understand this sometimes can’t come together until a little closer to the meet, so feel free to let me know that the line-ups are coming, and take a little extra time.
  • Please make wise choices about registering 3-person teams—consider, if your team loses a quizzer, you may have to just quiz with 2.
  • The social for this meet is the classic Erindale carnival at the church. Come prepared to play games and have a blast.
  • The theme for this meet is Hakuna Ma Quiz Meet #CMDdisney. I’ve been waiting 13 years for a Disney-themed quiz meet. I am so glad it’s finally here!

Here’s the registration form, in case you missed it above:

Hello CMD!

The following is the registration information for the quiz meet at Russell Alliance Church in Russell, Manitoba, February 3-5, 2017. It has taken an alarming number of exchanged emails and texts to compile all this information, but it hopefully answers any questions you might have.

We have a hard deadline this time around, as the ski hill needs our information on a specific date. Please make whatever arrangements you need to (setting an alert on my phone is my technique), to ensure you meet the deadline of Monday, January 16, 2017.

The following information is sorted into “quizzing info” and “social info.”

Quizzing Info

  • Registration will be held at Russell Alliance Church on Friday night from 6:30 – 7:30.
  • Material for the meet will be up to Luke 19:27.
  • Bagged lunches will be provided on Sunday, and there will also be bagged suppers to eat on the way to the ski hill.
  • To the best of your ability, indicate your line-ups on your registration forms. With larger teams especially, I understand this sometimes can’t come together until a little closer to the meet, so feel free to let me know that the line-ups are coming, and take a little extra time. Indicate rookies with a *, even in the C division.
  • Please make wise choices about registering 3-person teams—consider, if your team loses a quizzer, you may have to just quiz with 2.
  • 20 question quizzes in A, B, and C divisions. The C division is designated for rookies, but if you believe an exception should be made, please contact me directly (pitman.heatherATgmail.com).

Social Info

  • The social will be held at Asessippi Ski Hill for all participants including quizzers, coaches, and officials.
  • There are four options: skiing, snowboarding, tubing, or hanging out in the lodge (bring games if you plan to do this). You need to just choose one thing to do.
  • The rental of all the equipment is included in the registration cost, including helmets, which are required for all quizzers who are skiing, snowboarding or tubing.
  • You are welcome to bring your own gear to the meet, BUT it must be stored in vehicles as it is not allowed in the church or at billet homes. Make sure you check with your travel coordinators to ensure there is room.
  • All first time skiers or boarders will be required to take a lesson. The cost to first time lift users will be an additional $15 each. Please note the quizzers requiring lessons on the ski rental form as we need to schedule the correct number of instructors. This extra $15 per first time skier/boarder can be paid at registration Friday night. We are considering alternatives for first time lessons so please encourage your quizzers to try the activity even if the $15 is a concern.

Head coaches, you’ll need to download all three attachments to this email. The first is the standard quizzing registration form. The second is an individual collection form, which needs to be brought to the meet, as it acts as a waiver and confirmation. The third is a combined tally sheet of all the social information for your team.

When you submit registration, you need to submit both the ordinary registration form AND the team collection form.

Quizzing Registration Form

Team Collection Form – to be submitted with registration

Individual Collection Form – to be filled out by parents and brought to the meet

Cornerstone Quiz Meet Registration Information – November 11-13th

Hello everyone! So sorry that this is slow in getting out to you. I feel like I’m saying that a lot. Does anyone expect anything better from me?

This quiz meet invitation is extended to all quiz teams who were not invited to the Northern Zone meet. Please fill out the registration form and email it to cornerstone.regATcmdquizzing.org (replace AT with @) by Tuesday, November 1. I understand that this is a very close deadline. If you are a team that practices on Wednesday or Thursday, please feel free to take an extra day or two to get your information in. Having the early deadline makes it easier to compile the information that I need.

Here’s the important registration info:

  • Check-in will be at Cornerstone Alliance Church (1100 Autumnwood Dr.) Friday night from 6:30-7:30.
  • Material for this meet will be up to Luke 11:28.
  • Cost is $45 per person, officials exempt. Cheques payable to Canadian Midwest Quizzing.
  • Coaches, please don’t register officials using your registration form. They should contact our officials’ coordinator Aaron MacPherson directly at aaronmacphersonATlive.ca (replace AT with @). If you put them on the form, they get counted twice (because Aaron registers them). Thanks for your cooperation in this.
  • Coaches and officials who plan to be regularly involved with quizzing this year should plan to attend Plan to Protect Training at lunch on the Saturday of this meet.
  • The social will be held at Wheelies roller staking rink. Everyone must have socks. No bare feet are allowed.
  • Bagged lunches will be provided for Sunday ON SATURDAY NIGHT (Coaches to pick up). Please indicate on your registration form if you have people who do not need bagged lunches.
  • Indicate your line-ups on your registration forms. These can be changed at check-in, but it makes things easier for our stats room if we keep these changes to a minimum. Remember to mark rookie quizzers with a * by their names (even in the C division, which is reserved for rookie quizzers.)

Here’s the form again, in case you didn’t catch it above:
